Dr Yia Hua Jern graduated with MBBS from Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, India in 1998. He started government service in Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL), and was then transferred to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital (HPSF). In year 2004, he qualified as a general physician when he passed the MRCP (UK) exams. Subsequently Dr Yia undergone nephrology training in Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) in Johor Bahru, Selayang Hospital in Selangor and Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) in Adelaide, Australia. In year 2009, he was awarded the Fellowship of Nephrology by the Nephrology Board of Malaysia. He has been serving as a Consultant Physician and Nephrology in (HPSF) since year 2010. He is also a clinical lecturer at Melaka-Manipal Medical College (Manipal University).
Dr Yia is well versed & experienced in various renal conditions. These include nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease as well as end stage renal disease with therapeutic options of haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation. He is also keenly interested in the control of diabetes and hypertension, along with their complications.
